I’m currently galavanting around Spain with Anne and hopefully having a wonderful time. How could we not be having a wonderful time?
The process of getting to Spain is a bit long. We traveled to Chicago first, enjoyed a 4+ hour layover and then hopped on an 8-hour flight to Madrid. We left for the airport at 9 a.m. CST on Saturday and arrived in Madrid at 7:40 a.m. on Sunday Spain time. (I hope this is how it goes. I’m clearly writing this pre-trip).
In effort to make it through a long travel day, I count on snacks. We’re planning on catching lunch during our layover in Chicago, but that 8-hour flight? Being the food snob I am, I don’t want to count on loving my options on the plane. So, I bring snacks.
In the mix, I have single serving of Justin’s Nut Butters (The chocolate hazelnut is my favorite), a banana, a bag of mixed nuts and dried fruit, various fruit/nut bars including Larabars, Kind Bars, and I’m trying a new one, the Fruition Bar. I stashed some for the flight home as well. I also have an empty water bottle that will be joining me so I’m sure to stay hydrated.
I am a big believer in snacks especially when you’re not sure when your next healthy meal will be. If I don’t have time to pick something up ahead of time, I scour the airport for the healthiest options I can find. You can almost always score some fruit and some nuts. Being a little proactive when it comes to your health and diet can go a long way on the road.
By now, I should have conquered my packing pile. Hasta Luego!

Scott laughed at all the snacks I brought, but they came in handy! Delayed flights, running around and it was just nice to have them. I hope you are having a wonderful time.
